Free Responsible Technologies; School Tour 2-2006
MRISAR staff/family
members John Siegel, Victoria Croasdell-Siegel, Autumn Siegel
and Aurora Siegel presented and demonstrated aspects of responsible
technologies
before different groups of students at the Washington Elementary school in
Owosso, Michigan. Over 2,000 students attended. The presentation was to help
bring awareness to the importance of using technologies to provide
environmental and humanitarian solutions.
Among the subjects covered are alternative
energy, low environmental impact technologies, adaptive technologies (to
improve the quality of life for disabled individuals) and how important
science, math and even art are to being able to take an idea and turn it
into a working prototype.
When the Siegel's present, they represent not only MRISAR, but also
Education For Prosperity,
a non-profit organization the Siegels co-founded in 1995.
The demonstrations have been supplied free of charge as an effort to share
with and inspire others to learn and contribute to the welfare of humanity
and the environment.
Above: Autumn (age 14) and Aurora (age 11), demonstrate
before a group of students about the importance robotics can have in saving peoples
lives. Here they simulate removing unknown objects from a public location
via a 5 fingered robot arm mounted to a wheeled platform and controlled by a
panel. The robot has a camera on it that will allow for telepresence
operations. This application can also be effective for removing toxic
chemicals, searching for survivors in collapsed buildings, etc.
