When we decided that it was time for us to create our first center, we began the process of evaluation to determine the optimal place. Because our exhibit fabrication and our research & development are not reliant upon geographical location, and our reputation is global, we can attract visitors and interest regardless of where we chose. This allowed us to base our decision of location on other factors, such as: 1- Clean air and water. 2- Accessibility and connection to nature. 3- A workable growing climate. 4- Community and government receptivity to Humanitarian & Environmental projects. 5- Community and government receptivity to Educational, Scientific and Artistic Projects. (Projects of high moral standard and viewable for all ages) 6- Community and government receptivity to the creation of environmentally responsible light industries that would create products that are educational, or helpful to humanity and the environment. 7- Community and government receptivity to the creation of projects that: aid the local school systems; inspire the youth; help the poor; promote self improvement; encourage people to develop their potential creatively and academically through community projects. 8- Good economy. 9- Alternative energy potential. 10- Traditional old time values in the community. 11- A suitable building with enough acreage around it. These factors brought our attention to the potential of disused schools in rural communities. In our search, the New Leipzig School in North Dakota, came up as a possible choice. We contacted the New Leipzig website in mid-May. The letter was forwarded to Shirley Gruebele and Grant Daniels, members of the NLJDA, and from there started an extensive communication regarding the details of establishing our venture in North Dakota. Shirley, a retired New Leipzig Elementary schoolteacher, was instrumental in guiding our decision to relocate here. She provided information about the area, extensive images of the facility and conveyed traditional old time values and compassion. Thus in July of 2010 we relocated to New Leipzig, North Dakota.
