Nose Exhibit
The graphic panels on this page were scanned in at low resolution for faster on-line loading time. However many of the fine details and color gradations were lost in this transference. The panels are not depicted with their back lit illumination and animation.
8} Nose = This is designed as a regular unit with 4 back lit graphic panels and 1 3D model. Three of the four graphic panels are animated: (#1) panel shows the overall structure of the nose with LEDs showing the animated flow of odor molecules. (#2) panel is a rendition of the olfactory sensory organ with LEDs showing the bombardment of particles stimulating the sensory action. (#3) panel is animated with LED’s to show reaction of the olfactory sense organ transmitting nerve impulses to the brain. (#4) panel interacts with the model by showing what the nose smells in an animated graphic form. The model located on the council depicts the interior structures of the nose. A revolving disk simulates the major smells. The response of the nose is shown on panel (#4). Also included is a list of True or False Questions. Next to this list will be a set of push buttons allowing the visitor to select the appropriate answer. The Voice Playback technology portion of the exhibit will allow the user to hear positive feedback or be prompted to try again.
